From our defending champion Class 12 Cricket team to our kindergartners aspiring to be badminton, volleyball, table tennis, football, or basketball leaders of tomorrow, our facilities are led by experienced and trained staff with the latest equipment and training methods. Beginning with a basic understanding of the games and physical training we work with each child at their ability level to develop mental toughness, physical fitness, and advanced game-specific strategy to give us the best chance to compete locally, regionally, and nationally.

“Its not whether you get knocked down, its whether you get up” – Vince Lombardi

Cricket, India’s favourite pastime, remains the most popular sport amongst kids across the country. Here at Dalhousie Hilltop School we have state of the art equipment with a former professional player on staff to develop the skills of each and every student. Our award winning team won the 2014 championship in our region and remain the defending champions and team to beat in 2015 and beyond. In addition to daily practice and weekly scrimmages, we host an annual student vs. staff match which has quickly become one of the most popular school events of the year!

Football is a game everyone can enjoy. At Dalhousie Hilltop School we begin teaching our kids football at a very early age to assure they understand the rules, develop a sense of competition, and experience a healthy dose of physical activity. As they progress, we focus on teamwork and strategy to make sure our school has a chance to win the championship year in and year out.

Our skilled basketball coaches stress the importance of playing smart. Beginning with endurance, skill development, teamwork, positioning, and speed training the students must learn the fundamentals before they can represent our school in competition. With the basics in place we teach zone defence, the pick and roll, give and go, and other plays commonly used in FIBA, the NBA, European Leagues, and across the globe. Regardless of size and ability, our basketball team always seems to find a way to win.

Badminton is a fantastic game which helps our students focus on hand-eye coordination as well as mental discipline. We teach our students the rules of the game in accordance with the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and help them learn the finer points of the game through singles and doubles matches.

Volleyball is a wonderful team sport truly emphasizing the importance of teamwork, technical skill, and physical ability. Our students are able to run full practice scrimmages each and every day supervised by our knowledgeable and talented staff. What began as an afterschool game has become a fierce competition beloved by students and staff alike.

A plethora of indoor games are also offered by the school which includes:

  • Chess
  • Checkers
  • Carrom Board
  • Table Tennis
  • Scrabble
  • Darts & many more

Shooting Range

Shooting as a sports activity in school not only teaches students to be focused on their goal but also help them in leading a disciplined life. Therefore, to attract more student towards shooting activities, a shooting range has been introduce in Dalhousie Hilltop School. Not only students are taught shooting but also they are being educated on the importance of safety for shooter while shooting.

Shooting as a sports activity increases student’s strength, focus, concentration, hand-eye coordination and other motor skills. DHS has introduced a shooting range to promote courage and confidence, and most importantly to increase mental discipline. Multiple problem solving activities involving logic, mathematics and creative thinking (thinking “outside the box”) are needed and employed to succeed at any level of the shooting sports. It is also very beneficial in advancing personal responsibility and in preparation for a military or police job.

Music and Dance

At Dalhousie Hilltop School music and dance more than entertainment and fun. These disciplines teach us history, helps us learn order and structure, supplement our physical education, and connect us with our Indian culture and roots. We carry a variety of instruments from the eastern and western cultures and supply a talented staff who can help the students find their musical voice.

We also host a variety of traditional dance performances tapping into the culture and lives of our ancestors. Our music and dance festivals are held each year and the spectacle of color, costume, precision, and harmony have become highly anticipated events most students dare not miss!

Clubs And Societies

Learning and developing at DHS does not stop in the classroom. In addition to our academics, sports, music, dance, trips and excursions, we offer the children a chance to not only participate, but start, manage, run, and compete in a variety of clubs and societies. The structure heirarchy available in these clubs allow our students to become leaders, develop and hone new skills, experience numerous disciplines and become part of a team outside of sports. We at Dalhousie Hilltop School know that variety, choice, and non-sporting affiliations are a critical part of each child’s personality and overall development.

Trips and Excursions

One of the pillars of expanding our knowledge outside of the classroom is the ability to apply what we learn to our everyday lives. A long lasting and renowned ways of bridging the gap between classroom and hands-on training has always been the school field trip. A chance to step out of the classroom, field trips expose our children to new experiences while engaging them in local and foreign markets. Venturing outside the campus walls, the children form closer and stronger bonds with one another creating memories that will last a lifetime. Our fieldtrips spark the curiosity of the students by showing them new ideas and ways of thinking while reinforcing the ideas they have learned in the classroom. Rather than taking a break from education – we take education on the road.

We offer a wide variety of trips ranging from weekend treks with trained nature guides to flights halfway around the world to visit NASA headquarters in the United States of America. Local trips include visits to Khajjiar, Baniket, the Mall, weekly treks in the surrounding area, and many, many more. Outside of the Himachal Predesh, we help the children discover the majesty of india and beyond. Our travels range from the beaches of GOA to Kerala, Bangalore, Srinagar, Chennai, Jaipur, Agra …from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and everywhere inbetween. These trips are created for and tailored to the hobbies and goals of our children. Each year we even plan a trip outside of India helping our future astronauts experience a new country, new culture, and taste of what it takes to work for NASA.
